GETTING STARTED / VISUAL FIELD GUIDE

Your first Aurora Mk II run

Start with a short flight and one supported box. Confirm the fitted module, wing state and actual loading space before planning a larger delivery.

STEP 1 OF 4

Inspect the fitted module before choosing a load

The historical Aurora Q&A describes 2 SCU base storage plus a 6 SCU Cargo Module. The live matrix checked on 15 October 2026 lists 5 SCU. These official figures conflict; neither proves the retrieved ship’s usable grid. The pack does not establish which optional module is fitted.

SC Nomads exercise: retrieve the exact ship and inspect its module and loading space while safely parked. Record what you see before choosing freight. A module change and a cargo load are separate checks.

  1. 1

Make a fit note before accepting cargo

Inspect the retrieved module and usable grid. Note the installed module, intended box and route to its loading position.

    What you should see

You can identify the actual arrangement, rather than relying on the conflicting advertised total.

    That did not happen

If the module or loading position is unclear, do the one-box exercise first. Do not accept a capacity-sized contract or purchase an assumed missing module.

Make a fit note before accepting cargo

Inspect the retrieved module and usable grid. Note the installed module, intended box and route to its loading position.

Expected result: You can identify the actual arrangement, rather than relying on the conflicting advertised total.

If it did not work: If the module or loading position is unclear, do the one-box exercise first. Do not accept a capacity-sized contract or purchase an assumed missing module.

Check wing state before diagnosing silent guns

The Q&A says landing mode forces the wings folded and folding disables wing guns. It describes an independent toggle, but does not give a verified default input here. Inspect your own binding and the visible wing state; do not infer the wing command from the landing-gear key.

Shared control cards use the site’s inspected defaults: 4.9 LIVE, compared with 4.10 PTU. Each control card links its dated evidence. These are not an SC Nomads gameplay test of 4.10.2. Check your saved bindings if a result differs; suggest corrections through this guide’s normal peer review.

Check the visible wing state

After the normal departure checks, inspect the wings in safe open space. If using their guns, confirm the wings are deployed, then inspect operating mode and power before diagnosing a fault.

Expected result: The physical wing state and intended operating mode agree with the task.

If it did not work: If the wings remain folded, check the assigned control without guessing a key. Do not test-fire inside a hangar or at people or property.

Read the mode transition

Separate controls: Hold B

Cycle Master Mode (Long Press). Latest inspected CIG default: 4.9 LIVE, compared with 4.10 PTU. Your saved input may differ.

Check the HUD label before and after changing master mode. For a controlled weapons check, wait for SCM and its available systems.

Expected result: The HUD confirms the intended master mode.

If it did not work: Do not switch blindly during danger. Read the transition and current status.

Choose the intended operator mode

Separate controls: Middle mouse

Next Operator Mode. Latest inspected CIG default: 4.9 LIVE, compared with 4.10 PTU. Your saved input may differ.

Cycle once, read the label and continue only when the intended gun mode is active. In a permitted practice setting, left mouse fires the selected weapon preset.

Expected result: The selected mode and weapon preset match the task.

If it did not work: Check mode, weapon power and ammunition before blaming the firing input. A gunner’s controls belong to that occupied station.

Prove one box before planning a full hold

SC Nomads exercise: choose a supported test container and suitable tractor equipment. Rehearse the opening, supported placement and removal while parked. Passing this trial proves that box and arrangement, not every larger container.

Take a supported box and bring it clear

Controls in order: Left mouse then Mouse wheel

Aim a suitable tractor tool at the test box and engage it with the primary action. Move it clear of the floor. Use small wheel movements to adjust how far it is held.

Expected result: The whole container moves without scraping through a doorway or another box.

If it did not work: If the tool shows a mass or distance limit, use equipment capable of this load. A Multi-Tool and a MaxLift are not interchangeable for every container.

Rotate before entering a tight opening

Separate controls: Hold R + Mouse

In clear space, hold R and move the mouse to align the box with the opening. Release the modifier before changing distance again.

Expected result: The face you want leads through the doorway and the corners remain visible.

If it did not work: If the container swings across another person or the hull, stop and move back into clear space. Rotate outside the doorway instead of wedging it in the frame.

Confirm placement before releasing the next box

Place the container in a supported grid position, release the tractor, and inspect whether it stayed where intended. Walk the access route once before repeating.

Expected result: The box remains aboard and both the output area and your walking route are usable.

If it did not work: Loose or moving freight is not secured merely because it is inside the hull. Reposition the test box before loading over it.

  • Actual module identified
  • Test box supported and stable
  • Loading and exit paths clear
  • Test box can be removed again

Save a deliberate configuration after the trial

Return with the standard landing lesson. If you change the fit, distinguish applying it from saving a recovery loadout. Do not replace a known working snapshot with an untested experiment.

Customize the local stored ship

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Vehicle Manager

At the location holding the ship and parts, open Vehicle Manager, select the stored ship and its intended slot, then inspect the offered compatible items. Apply the intended customization and recheck the slot.

Expected result: The intended component is fitted to the intended ship.

If it did not work: Check location, slot size and available item before replacing anything else. Do not assume a more expensive part fits.

Save the retrieved configuration

Separate controls: F

ASOP > retrieved ship > save icon

After retrieving and checking the configured ship, use the ASOP save icon. Inspect its confirmation. A new snapshot replaces the previous one.

Expected result: The intended configuration is the saved snapshot.

If it did not work: A later insured claim excludes ammunition and missiles. Plan a separate rearm; do not treat an insured ship as automatically stocked.

Field note: The hull’s station links lead to the exact departure, mode and fitting lessons. Record discrepancies through the guide improvement action, including the build and installed module.
