STEP 1 OF 6

Read the two size-2 weapons as different resource plans

The comparison uses individually captured community game-data records for 4.10.2-LIVE.12881860, captured 15 October 2026. These are extracted parameters, not CIG performance promises or an SC Nomads gameplay test. Equal item size does not establish that either fits your ship, mount or current loadout.

The CF-227 Badger Repeater is an energy weapon. The 10-Series Greatsword Cannon uses physical ammunition. This is a worked comparison of these exact records, not a recommendation for every size-2 port.

What do these words mean?
Primary firing cadence
CF-227 Badger Repeater: 750 rpm. 10-Series Greatsword Cannon: 250 rpm.
Per-shot damage, source summary
CF-227 Badger Repeater: 26.2. 10-Series Greatsword Cannon: 73.
Projectile speed
CF-227 Badger Repeater: 1,495 m/s. 10-Series Greatsword Cannon: 1,196 m/s.
Physical ammunition capacity

The CF-227 Badger Repeater is an energy weapon. The 10-Series Greatsword Cannon uses physical ammunition. This is a worked comparison of these exact records, not a recommendation for every size-2 port.

Decide what limits your planned session

The Greatsword source has higher per-shot damage and lower firing cadence than the Badger. Its projectile is slower. Hitting a moving target and placing each shot matter; the larger per-shot number does not establish higher sustained damage or easier aim.

The Badger’s zero physical-ammunition field does not mean it cannot fire: its separate source capacitor maximum is 75. The Greatsword’s capacitor field is not supplied, which is different from zero. Its physical capacity is 492 rounds in this record. Read the actual installed ammunition or energy indication before departure.

For a longer combat or escort session, plan energy availability and recharge for the Badger, or ammunition consumption and a reachable restock for the Greatsword. Neither source record establishes damage through shields or armor, recharge on your ship, or the number of targets you can finish.

Write one question before changing the gun

Choose one observable question: can you make controlled short bursts and still track the target, or does your intended session run into ammunition or energy limits? Record the original gun and one baseline attempt.

Expected result: You have a specific observation to compare with the second fitting.

If it did not work: Do not change every gun, power allocation and aiming setting together. If compatible access to both exact guns is unavailable, use the reference comparison without buying a new ship.

Record a baseline, then change one compatible item

Control cards reuse the existing engineering and navigation lessons. Latest inspected defaults are 4.9 LIVE, compared with 4.10 PTU on 22 August 2026, not a 4.10.2 gameplay test. Your saved bindings take precedence. Suggest control corrections through this guide’s normal improvement and independent review actions.

Record the exact ship variant, current component name, relevant HUD readings and power allocation. Keep the original item available so you can reverse the change. Do not buy an item just because this lesson compares its size.

Inspect the exact weapon port or mount offered by Vehicle Manager. A turret or bespoke port may differ from a pilot-controlled mount. This lesson does not establish compatibility or let the pilot fire an unoccupied gunner station.

Make a baseline before launch

SC Nomads comparison drill

Record your ship variant, fitted weapons, visible power allocations and healthy status. Keep the same view available for the next practice step.

Expected result: You have a reference to compare with a failure.

If it did not work: Do this while parked. If the screen is unfamiliar, ask the owner to identify one known component before changing anything.

Customize the local stored ship

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Vehicle Manager

At the location holding the ship and parts, open Vehicle Manager, select the stored ship and its intended slot, then inspect the offered compatible items. Apply the intended customization and recheck the slot.

Expected result: The intended component is fitted to the intended ship.

If it did not work: Check location, slot size and available item before replacing anything else. Do not assume a more expensive part fits.

  • Original part recorded and available
  • Current interface offers the intended item
  • One item changed
  • Other fittings and allocations held constant

Fire a short burst, release, then read the reserve

Use an available, permitted practice setting with clear space and an agreed target. Do not test-fire at a port, bystanders or an unwilling player. Leave the ship’s other weapons, power and aiming setup unchanged where the available fitting permits it.

The exercise compares visible behavior, not target destruction time: note which fitted weapon fires, which ammunition or energy reading changes, and what happens after you release the trigger. Do not expect the source maximum to be the exact live HUD count.

Read the mode transition

Separate controls: Hold B

Cycle Master Mode (Long Press). Latest inspected CIG default: 4.9 LIVE, compared with 4.10 PTU. Your saved input may differ.

Check the HUD label before and after changing master mode. For a controlled weapons check, wait for SCM and its available systems.

Expected result: The HUD confirms the intended master mode.

If it did not work: Do not switch blindly during danger. Read the transition and current status.

Choose the intended operator mode

Separate controls: Middle mouse

Next Operator Mode. Latest inspected CIG default: 4.9 LIVE, compared with 4.10 PTU. Your saved input may differ.

Cycle once, read the label and continue only when the intended gun mode is active. In a permitted practice setting, left mouse fires the selected weapon preset.

Expected result: The selected mode and weapon preset match the task.

If it did not work: Check mode, weapon power and ammunition before blaming the firing input. A gunner’s controls belong to that occupied station.

Observe one burst and the pause

With the intended gun mode and preset confirmed, use the firing input described above for a brief burst, then release. Watch the relevant weapon’s reserve or ammunition indication. For the energy fitting, allow a pause and observe whether the live reserve recovers; for the ballistic fitting, record the rounds remaining.

Expected result: You can connect the firing input to the intended weapon and identify what resource changed, without treating a visual effect as proof of a hit.

If it did not work: If no shot fires, stop and check SCM transition, preset, occupied station, power and the actual ammunition/reserve warning. If several weapons fire together, record that limitation instead of attributing every change to the compared gun.

Field note: A quick test can establish that a fitting works and show its resource behavior. It cannot establish sustained DPS, armor penetration or an optimal combat build.

A service confirmation needs an ammunition check

Ballistic ammunition is a separate service need. An insured claim or a repaired hull does not prove that the compared weapon is stocked. Energy recovery depends on the live ship state; do not invent a magazine item from the nested projectile UUID.

Use Landing Services from the pilot seat

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Landing Services

After landing at a location offering services, remain in the pilot seat. Choose the required repair, restock and fuel options, then Confirm. Recheck ammunition and system state after completion.

Expected result: The requested supplies or condition have changed.

If it did not work: If the app or result is wrong, note the location and state before buying repeatedly. An icon change alone is not proof of a successful refill.

The gun is fitted but greyed out or silent.: Compare the current mode, weapon power and preset with your baseline. Confirm the occupied station actually controls it. Do not repeatedly fire or buy ammunition for an energy weapon because its physical-ammo field is zero.

The larger per-shot number did not make the engagement easier.: Review misses, projectile travel, cadence, resource interruptions and the unchanged target conditions. This lesson does not turn a source damage summary into measured sustained performance.

Restore the baseline or deliberately keep the result

Compare the two notes against your original question. A finite ballistic reserve may add a restock obligation; an energy fitting may add reserve/recharge constraints. Keep the result specific to your tested ship and conditions.

Do not save an experimental loadout automatically. The ASOP save step replaces the previous snapshot. Use it only after deciding which fitted configuration you want to retain; otherwise restore the original part first. No spare part, ammunition purchase or insurance save is performed by this website.

Record the game build, exact fitted item, power state, mode and observed result if you suggest an improvement. A friend can confirm the observation, but publication still uses the existing independent review process. These three examples do not cover every component or ship.

Choose the configuration to finish with

Return to a safe service location. If reverting, use the same Vehicle Manager customization step to fit the recorded original part, then inspect the slot again. Keep test notes separate from a claim that the part is universally better.

Expected result: The installed component matches your deliberate final choice.

If it did not work: If the expected item is missing, check the ship’s storage location and inventory. Do not overwrite the insurance snapshot merely to troubleshoot a missing part.

Save the retrieved configuration

Separate controls: F

ASOP > retrieved ship > save icon

After retrieving and checking the configured ship, use the ASOP save icon. Inspect its confirmation. A new snapshot replaces the previous one.

Expected result: The intended configuration is the saved snapshot.

If it did not work: A later insured claim excludes ammunition and missiles. Plan a separate rearm; do not treat an insured ship as automatically stocked.
