Escort a hauler or industrial crew

Protect the objective instead of chasing every fight.

STEP 1 OF 13

Agree what you are protecting

Mining and cargo operations can use a player escort. Agree the route, stops, communication method and intended response before departure.

Our recommended mission statement: “Keep the hauler moving to the safe destination.” That is more useful than an undefined promise to win every encounter.

  1. 1

    Agree protection and disengagement rules

Before departing, confirm the protected ship, route, group leader and response to contact. Agree whether the escort observes, deters or fights, and what makes the convoy leave.

    What you should see

The hauler and escort know the same plan and can distinguish their own group.

    That did not happen

Do not assume every unknown contact authorizes an attack. Read the local law and the contract scope.

Agree what you are protecting

Mining and cargo operations can use a player escort. Agree the route, stops, communication method and intended response before departure.

Our recommended mission statement: “Keep the hauler moving to the safe destination.” That is more useful than an undefined promise to win every encounter.

Agree protection and disengagement rules

Before departing, confirm the protected ship, route, group leader and response to contact. Agree whether the escort observes, deters or fights, and what makes the convoy leave.

Expected result: The hauler and escort know the same plan and can distinguish their own group.

If it did not work: Do not assume every unknown contact authorizes an attack. Read the local law and the contract scope.

Name the protected ship and each crew job

SC Nomads first escort outing: use an empty or affordable client ship for one agreed leg. Name the client pilot, escort lead, lookout and any onboard engineer. If there is one escort pilot, say which jobs they cannot perform simultaneously.

Agree the rendezvous, destination, rally point, payment if any, and who calls break-off. Agree whether the escort observes, deters or engages. A client instruction does not override local law or authorize shooting an unidentified ship.

Read back roster and retreat call

Separate controls: F11

mobiGlas > Commlink > party contacts

Invite the intended contacts and have each person acknowledge their handle, ship and job. Test the agreed channel with the break-off and rally words.

Expected result: The client and escort can identify their own people and the person making the escape call.

If it did not work: If voice fails, establish an acknowledged text fallback before departure. A party list alone is not a working communication check.

Prove the rendezvous without the valuable load

Controls use the latest inspected CIG defaults: 4.9 LIVE, compared with 4.10 PTU. Your saved profile wins. Check a different assignment once in Options > Keybindings > your device > Advanced Controls Customization, then confirm the visible result.

Set the meeting point and identify the client by agreed handle and ship. If joining their crew, meet before boarding, test the authorized entrance and use the assigned seat or station. Party membership does not prove inventory, ship-system or mission access.

If sharing an actual offered mission, use Accepted > Share and have each intended participant verify it appears in their own accepted list. A player-arranged escort fee is a separate agreement.

Rehearse one meeting and departure

Separate controls: F2

mobiGlas > Maps > agreed rendezvous

Each pilot selects the same accessible point, reports arrival and visually confirms the other ship before moving together.

Expected result: The group can find the client and rally point without relying on a guessed marker.

If it did not work: If one player cannot reach the point or is in another session, solve that first. Do not load the valuable cargo while the escort is still trying to join.

Verify any shared mission separately

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Contracts > Accepted > Share

The holder selects an actually shareable mission. Each invitee reads and accepts their prompt, then checks their own accepted entry.

Expected result: Only people who accepted the offered mission count on its stated shared conditions.

If it did not work: If Share is absent or the invite was not accepted, do not claim party membership shared the contract or its reward.

Make escape compatible with both ships

Compare the client’s route and endurance with your own. Establish where to regroup if separated and which pilot calls the retreat.

At loading stops, assign someone to watch the surroundings. If you also help move boxes, say when no one is watching outside.

Rehearse the regroup with an empty ship

Separate controls: F2

Share the planned destination and a fallback marker. Make a short practice movement and confirm every pilot can find the regroup before carrying the valuable load.

Expected result: A separated pilot has a named place to go without waiting for a crisis.

If it did not work: A fast escort can leave a slow hauler behind. Match the route and calls to the protected ship.

Check every ship can finish the same leg

Each pilot checks the route and fuel in their own ship, including return or diversion reserve. Set a service stop reachable by the client and escort. Fuel endurance, acceleration and access can differ; no universal escort fit or fixed separation solves those differences.

At a controlled port, each pilot obtains their own clearance. An industrial ship may be assigned docking rather than the escort hangar. Confirm the client is clear before the escort commits to the next leg.

Read each route rather than assuming a group jump

Separate controls: F2

mobiGlas > Maps > destination > route details

Compare destination, next leg and required fuel with the client. Set the fallback and have the client call ready before departure.

Expected result: Every pilot has a usable route and can state the next stop.

If it did not work: If the escort cannot match the route, change the leg or service first. Party membership does not guarantee synchronized quantum departure or identical arrival.

Request the correct port assignment

Keys together: Left Alt + N

Request Landing; Commlink alternative

Request your own clearance with Left Alt + N and follow the marker assigned to your ship. Keep the client exit and approach clear.

Expected result: Both ships can leave or arrive without blocking each other.

If it did not work: Do not borrow the client clearance or park in their approach. Ask for a separate usable assignment when the hull or port requires one.

Match movement and confirm travel state

Use the client ready call, not the escort top speed, to start the leg. Leave maneuvering room for both hulls and adjust to traffic and handling. Report when the client falls behind rather than chasing your own route marker.

During local movement, watch actual speed and keep clear of the client flight path. Spacebrake X is a way to reduce speed, not an instant stop. After quantum arrival, confirm the client arrived before proceeding to the next objective.

Depart in the correct travel operator

Controls in order: Hold B then Middle mouse then Hold Left mouse

Cycle Master Mode (Long Press) > Next Operator Mode > Engage Quantum Drive (Hold)

When the client is ready, hold B if needed for NAV, cycle middle mouse to QT, align and wait for readiness, then hold left mouse to start your own leg.

Expected result: Your HUD reads NAV/QT and your ship begins the agreed leg.

If it did not work: A route or readiness warning needs diagnosis. Do not assume the escort can automatically pull the client through a jump or clear an obstruction for them.

Keep a watch while the client cannot leave quickly

At a mining, loading or unloading stop, state who watches outside and who handles cargo. A pilot moving boxes or operating a tool must announce the loss of that watch. Keep an exit route and a ready-to-leave call; do not crowd the working ship or freight route.

At services, the client remains responsible for confirming repair, restock and both fuel types. Keep the escort plan active through delays. The 4.10.2 issues page, checked 18 October 2026, reports delayed Landing Services availability after landing.

Hold the watch through the service result

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Landing Services, landed in the pilot seat

The client requests the needed service and checks the resulting readouts. The lookout reports contacts and tells the group before leaving position.

Expected result: The client confirms readiness and the group knows when observation was interrupted.

If it did not work: For the published service delay, allow several minutes, close and reopen the app. If still unavailable, agree a reachable alternative before launching with an inadequate reserve.

Report contacts with actionable information

Suggested callout: direction, distance, behavior and recommended action. Separate a suspicious contact from a confirmed attack so the crew can make a measured decision.

Do not chase a departing attacker so far that you leave the client exposed. Regroup, check the client’s ship and finish the delivery first.

Report a contact before chasing it

Call the contact, its direction and the protected ship's condition. Let the agreed leader choose whether to continue, escape or engage, then keep reporting the hauler's status.

Expected result: The protected ship remains the focus of the operation.

If it did not work: If an attacker pulls the escort away, return to the protection plan instead of turning the job into an unrelated pursuit.

  • Objective agreed
  • Retreat signal
  • Regroup point
  • Client delivered

Identify the contact before deciding to fire

Use the target-selection action from your active device profile, then read the selected contact name and distance on the HUD. Compare with the roster and a crew call. A marker color, target lock or unfamiliar ship is not by itself permission to attack.

Report contact, direction, distance, observed behavior and client condition. The agreed leader decides within the local legal and contract limits. If firing is justified, verify SCM and the weapon state, and keep the protected ship and friendly crew out of the line of fire. Party membership is not friendly-fire immunity.

Select, read back, then choose a response

Separate controls: T

Vehicles - Target Cycling > Cycle Lock - In View - Under Reticle

Aim at the intended contact and tap T. Read the selected identity, distance and target indication on the HUD, then call the identity before an engagement decision.

Expected result: The group can distinguish a known friendly, an uncertain contact and the identified threat.

If it did not work: If the wrong contact was selected, withhold fire, aim again and reselect. Your saved profile overrides the inspected default. Check Cycle Lock - In View - Under Reticle if needed, not the separate Lock Target Under Reticle action with no inspected keyboard default.

Check the local legal context

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Journal > relevant legal code

Confirm the system and applicable legal code. Treat the client order and any accepted contract as context, not an exemption from the law.

Expected result: The response plan has an identified target and a lawful scope.

If it did not work: If a shot crosses the client path or creates friendly damage, stop firing, report it and reassess instead of adding more fire.

Confirm SCM before an authorized defensive pass

Controls in order: Hold B then Left mouse

Cycle Master Mode (Long Press); active weapon preset

If still in NAV, hold B once and wait for SCM. Read weapon and shield readiness. With the identified threat and clear firing line confirmed, use left mouse briefly for the selected weapon preset, then reassess the client and your ship.

Expected result: The HUD confirms SCM and you can observe the weapon response while keeping track of the client.

If it did not work: If mode, target or friendly position is uncertain, stop firing. Break off toward the agreed rally when the client calls it; do not keep making combat passes after losing the protection task.

Break off toward a named rally

When the agreed escape condition is met, the leader calls break-off, names the rally and gets an acknowledgement. Keep the client route clear; an escort chasing a retreating attacker can abandon the ship it was hired to protect.

Each pilot selects the rally and reports arrival and remaining fuel. If the point is unsafe or unreachable, announce a replacement instead of silently changing destination. Quantum escape is conditional on the actual drive, fuel and HUD warnings, not an automatic protection ability.

Verify the client made the regroup

Separate controls: F2

mobiGlas > Maps > agreed rally point

Route to the rally, confirm your own safe arrival and ask the client for location and condition. Resume only after the client acknowledgement.

Expected result: The group knows who is present and whether another recovery step is needed.

If it did not work: If the client is missing, first establish their location and status. Do not blindly repeat jumps to a stale marker or assume every interdiction device or escape path behaves as planned.

Recover the client instead of extending the fight

After contact, the client pilot reports control, fuel, damage and crew condition. An onboard engineer reports systems they can actually inspect. The escort checks its own ship too; a damaged escort cannot promise another combat leg.

If the client cannot move, keep communications, state the exact location and agree recovery. A missing party marker is not proof the client was destroyed. For injuries use /guides/medical-rescue; for disabled transport consider /guides/towing-and-recovery without promising every hull can be towed.

If contact is lost or someone disconnects, use the agreed channel and fallback. Do not treat an unresponsive ship, copied paint or similar name as permission to board or fire.

Choose service, evacuation or cancellation

Separate controls: F1

Ship status displays; mobiGlas > Maps / Landing Services

Read condition and reachable services, ask the client what is needed, and communicate whether the job continues, changes to recovery or ends.

Expected result: The client has an explicit next action and the escort still has a return reserve.

If it did not work: Do not label the original delivery complete merely because combat ended. If you cannot recover safely, state the limit and coordinate assistance rather than promising guaranteed protection.

Before you commit

Hiring a player does not create guaranteed protection or automatic payment enforcement. Agree terms and keep the first operation affordable.

An escort can reduce risk and improve coordination, but cannot eliminate ambushes, server problems or a client’s handling mistake.

Close the job after the client reaches the usable destination

Confirm client arrival, required unload or crew handoff, and any actual accepted-contract result. Settle the separately agreed escort fee only after checking recipient, amount and the current transfer confirmation. The historical mo.Trader instructions do not establish current escrow, a guaranteed fee or automatic protection.

Return, repair, restock and refuel as needed. Record a missed call, service delay or separation to improve the next briefing. Sources were rechecked 18 October 2026; this is a player-arranged operating plan, not gameplay verification or a promise that a particular escort beacon is offered.

Confirm completion and the next safe state

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Accepted contracts / transfer app / Landing Services, as applicable

Have the client confirm the agreed destination and any unresolved damage or payment. Check your own supplies before accepting another escort.

Expected result: Both sides know what completed, what remains unresolved and whether the ships can return.

If it did not work: An unresolved transfer is not a reason to resend blindly. If services or the route are unavailable, agree a revised finish and reachable stop rather than advertising a guaranteed outcome.

  • Client handoff confirmed
  • Payment status agreed
  • Ship condition checked
  • Return and service complete
