STEP 1 OF 5

Prepare the headset runtime

A headset needs its supported PC connection before the game can use it.

  1. 1

    Prepare the headset runtime

Use your headset's own setup instructions to confirm that its PC runtime detects it.

    What you should see

The headset works in its supported PC environment.

    That did not happen

This does not install Star Citizen as a standalone headset app or guarantee every controller extension. Keep normal controls reachable.

Prepare the headset runtime

A headset needs its supported PC connection before the game can use it.

Prepare the headset runtime

Use your headset's own setup instructions to confirm that its PC runtime detects it.

Expected result: The headset works in its supported PC environment.

If it did not work: This does not install Star Citizen as a standalone headset app or guarantee every controller extension. Keep normal controls reachable.

Enable VR for the selected environment

VR is a native experimental launcher option.

Enable VR for the selected environment

RSI Launcher > RSI menu > Settings > Games > selected environment

With the game closed, turn on VR Support for the environment you intend to launch.

Expected result: The launcher displays a VR indicator below the environment selection.

If it did not work: Check that you changed the intended LIVE or test environment. A headset being connected does not establish that this option is enabled.

Choose a comfortable VR zoom strength

The current zoom narrows field of view as a temporary scope solution.

Choose a comfortable VR zoom strength

VR option: Zoom Gameplay Strength

If interaction or scope zoom feels too strong, lower Zoom Gameplay Strength; zero disables that zoom effect.

Expected result: The zoom effect reflects the selected strength.

If it did not work: This is documented in Alpha 4.10.2. It does not mean physical weapon scopes or every comfort option are complete.

Check the exact feature before relying on it

Native experimental VR is not a promise of every headset feature.

Check the exact feature before relying on it

Compare a desired feature with current CIG notes rather than assuming eye input, virtual hands or comfort controls are universal.

Expected result: You distinguish a released feature from future work and device-specific support.

If it did not work: Historical 4.6 notes describe an eye-controlled stereo cursor. New locomotion options were still discussed as future work on 13 October. A complete current motion-controller matrix is not established here.

Feature-specific support
An eye-controlled cursor, avatar facial animation and a desktop tracking device are separate integrations.
Comfort preference
Begin with a short, familiar stationary task. Stop if uncomfortable and return to the normal monitor setup.

Return to the monitor setup

You can disable VR without entering the game.

Return to the monitor setup

RSI Launcher > gear beside the environment selector

Exit the game and choose Disable VR mode from the environment menu.

Expected result: The selected environment is ready to launch without VR mode.

If it did not work: If normal play still fails, troubleshoot the exact headset/runtime or unused peripheral without changing unrelated game bindings.
