Medical rescue, from beacon to care
Reach a patient, treat what you can and plan the appropriate destination.
Reach a patient, treat what you can and plan the appropriate destination.
A MedPen treats HP damage and bleeding. A MultiTool with LifeGuard restores HP but does not treat injury impairments. The CureLife medical tool adds diagnosis and Advanced treatment. None of these choices replaces appropriate care for every injury.
Shop item details and purchase destination
Read the tool, required attachment and refill names together. Select the purchase destination deliberately, then inspect the resulting items there.
The intended tool and usable supplies are present in the chosen inventory.
Recheck destination and stock before buying duplicates. A promotion that names a refill is not a current shop-stock list.
Activate the shop kiosk with F. Select the exact tool, required attachment and compatible refill you identified, set the intended quantity and inspect Choose Destination before confirming the purchase.
The purchased quantity reaches the destination you selected.
Items sent to Local Inventory need collecting from a Storage Access kiosk. They do not automatically travel with your character. Check the completed transaction and selected destination before paying for duplicates.
Interact with Storage Access
At Storage Access, equip the tool and move the refill into carried storage. Close the kiosk and check the character before leaving.
Equipment is on the character and the reload is carried.
Check undersuit and leg-armor requirements if a slot is unavailable. Items left in local storage remain at that location.
The same published instructions in one readable view. Use the steps above for controls and practice panels.

Shop item details and purchase destination
Read the tool, required attachment and refill names together. Select the purchase destination deliberately, then inspect the resulting items there.
Expected result: The intended tool and usable supplies are present in the chosen inventory.
If it did not work: Recheck destination and stock before buying duplicates. A promotion that names a refill is not a current shop-stock list.
Activate the shop kiosk with F. Select the exact tool, required attachment and compatible refill you identified, set the intended quantity and inspect Choose Destination before confirming the purchase.
Expected result: The purchased quantity reaches the destination you selected.
If it did not work: Items sent to Local Inventory need collecting from a Storage Access kiosk. They do not automatically travel with your character. Check the completed transaction and selected destination before paying for duplicates.
Interact with Storage Access
At Storage Access, equip the tool and move the refill into carried storage. Close the kiosk and check the character before leaving.
Expected result: Equipment is on the character and the reload is carried.
If it did not work: Check undersuit and leg-armor requirements if a slot is unavailable. Items left in local storage remain at that location.
Read the item name before operating it. A bare MultiTool or mining attachment is a different configuration from a fitted LifeGuard.
On Foot: Select Gadget. Latest inspected default: CIG 4.9 LIVE input data; 4.10 PTU comparison. Custom bindings may differ.
Inspect the attached part’s LifeGuard label, then draw the tool. Confirm the medical configuration before aiming at a patient.
Expected result: LifeGuard is fitted to the tool, not merely carried beside it.
If it did not work: Return to equipment management if the wrong attachment is installed. Do not test an unidentified beam on someone.
Primary action. Latest inspected default: CIG 4.9 LIVE input data; 4.10 PTU comparison. Custom bindings may differ.
Aim the configured LifeGuard tool at the intended patient and use primary action. Ask the patient to check their health afterward.
Expected result: The intended patient’s health responds.
If it did not work: Inspect supplies and configuration if it does not. LifeGuard is not the CMT Advanced-treatment interface.
Consumable Select Radial Menu. Latest inspected default: CIG 4.9 LIVE input data; 4.10 PTU comparison. Custom bindings may differ.
Use the consumable selector, read the pen name and draw the intended item. Use left mouse for self-use or right mouse toward the patient for Inject Other.
Expected result: The intended pen is in hand before injection; afterward inspect the result.
If it did not work: Reopen selection and inspect the current input if another item appears. Do not keep clicking while an unexpected item is equipped.
Field note: Exact LifeGuard fitting gestures and current refill variants are useful peer-review additions. This inventory reference does not show that fitting interaction.
Our rescue sequence begins with location, threats and access. A medical beacon does not clear hostiles or make a landing area safe. Ask what incapacitated the player and whether that danger is still present.
Read the available assistance contract and accept the intended patient. Record their location, remaining urgency and the requested handoff. Ask for a landmark if a marker alone will not identify the entrance.
Expected result: You know whom to reach and where the rescue needs to finish.
If it did not work: If the patient cannot answer, approach cautiously with cover and an exit plan. Do not promise a guaranteed rescue based only on a marker.
Keep a pilot or cover player aware while the medic approaches. Identify how to get back to the ship with a patient and which destination is reachable.
Expected result: Treatment can be followed by an actual evacuation.
If it did not work: If combat or environmental exposure remains uncontrolled, move to cover and coordinate first. A medical tool does not solve the cause of every injury.
Check the patient identity and affected body part before selecting treatment. Let one rescuer manage medication while others cover and prepare transport.
CMT screen interaction: raise with right mouse, then interact using F
Aim at the intended patient, raise the tool and interact with its screen. Inspect the injured body part and select Basic or Advanced with the upper mode control.
Expected result: You can identify the recipient, diagnosis and active mode.
If it did not work: Adjust aim if the wrong person is shown. Do not copy the reference image’s slider values.
Primary action. Latest inspected default: CIG 4.9 LIVE input data; 4.10 PTU comparison. Custom bindings may differ.
With the intended treatment and patient selected, use primary action. Recheck the display and ask what improved before repeating.
Expected result: A specific health or symptom change is visible, rather than only an animation.
If it did not work: Recheck target, mode, supplies and diagnosis if nothing changes. Repeated clicks do not identify the failed step.
Source-checked controls, not an in-game test. SC Nomads recommends practising screen reading without medicating a healthy partner.
SC Nomads CMT screen-reading drill
Aim at the person for basic health, then the relevant body part for injury information. Read recipient, body part, severity and BDL.
Expected result: You can distinguish the health reading from the limb diagnosis.
If it did not work: Wrong recipient or unchanged diagnosis? Adjust aim and read again before treatment.
CMT self-use, official support default
With the CMT equipped, select self-use and inspect the target. Return to other-target operation before helping another player.
Expected result: The displayed recipient matches the person you intend to treat.
If it did not work: Pause if the target is unclear. Read the display again before using primary action.
SC Nomads CMT screen-reading drill
After self-use, confirm the recipient again before helping someone else. Use the upper toggle: Basic for HP treatment; Advanced for medication sliders. Read the drug and selected amount.
Expected result: Recipient, mode and intended treatment agree.
If it did not work: Uncertain about a slider? Stop; do not copy the historical screenshot dose.
SC Nomads CMT screen-reading drill
Follow “Treat once, then inspect the result” above. Compare health, injury symptoms and BDL; report what changed.
Expected result: A treatment result is identified separately from an animation.
If it did not work: Symptoms persisting after HP improves need reassessment and the existing care-tier decision, not repeated blind dosing.
Field note: Custom controls may differ. Submit build, recipient/mode, before/after readings and the failed step through the existing guide proposal; independent peer review still applies.
Practise reading and targeting while safely parked. You can learn the interface without administering medicine to a healthy friend.
CMT self-use, official support default
With the CMT equipped, select self-use and inspect the target. Return to other-target operation before helping another player.
Expected result: The displayed recipient matches the person you intend to treat.
If it did not work: Pause if the target is unclear. Read the display again before using primary action.
On Foot: Reload. Latest inspected default: CIG 4.9 LIVE input data; 4.10 PTU comparison. Custom bindings may differ.
Carry the compatible refill, equip the tool, note its supply, then reload. Read the new supply indicator.
Expected result: The reload succeeds and usable supply increases.
If it did not work: Check exact refill label, remaining contents and storage location. A similar canister or one left aboard the ship is not proof of a usable carried reload.
Field note: Different input? Open Options > Keybindings, choose your device, then Advanced Controls Customization. Read the named action before changing it. Submit corrections through this guide’s normal edit proposal.
HP, injury and blood drug level are separate readings. Stabilization temporarily suppresses injury symptoms. Around 50% BDL, overdose becomes a concern; inspect the diagnosis before adding medication.
SC Nomads patient handoff
Tell the patient which reading improved and what still needs care. Agree the next destination before declaring the rescue finished.
Expected result: The patient understands why further care may still be necessary.
If it did not work: If symptoms return, revisit the diagnosis and transport plan instead of assuming the earlier treatment permanently cured the injury.
Use the diagnosis rather than a pen color or a saved slider recipe. A restored HP bar, relief of an injury effect and a healed injury are three different results. CMT Advanced cannot administer Canoiodide for radiation symptoms.
MedPen or an available CMT health treatment
Read the health and bleeding state. Choose the matching Hemozal treatment, then inspect HP and the bleeding indicator before doing anything else.
Expected result: The immediate health problem responds, and you can say whether an injury remains.
If it did not work: A MedPen is not proof that a moderate or severe injury is cured. If the patient remains incapacitated or deteriorates, reassess the scene, treatment and evacuation.
CMT diagnosis and mode; pen names are visible in the consumable selector
Read the injured body part, severity and BDL on the CMT. Match the documented symptom treatment to that finding. For radiation symptoms, find Canoiodide in a DeconPen rather than trying to dial it into CMT Advanced.
Expected result: You can name the remaining condition, the selected item and the destination needed for full care.
If it did not work: Do not infer that symptom relief healed the underlying injury. If the item or reading differs from this source, follow the current item label and propose a dated correction.
BDL on the helmet status or CMT
Inspect the BDL reading before another dose. CIG says impairment begins above 50%. Select Resurgera or its DetoxPen form for a documented BDL reduction, then recheck the reading and symptoms.
Expected result: BDL and the visible condition are assessed again before further treatment.
If it did not work: Do not keep stacking medicines to chase an animation. If the expected reading does not improve, stop dosing and arrange appropriate care.
The name or effect does not match the basic pen shown here.: Read the complete item label, including variants such as XTRA, and the current diagnosis. Do not infer contents from color alone.
Read the tier in the diagnosis before deciding whether to finish here or evacuate. Stabilization can make travel possible without curing a moderate or severe injury.
Patient diagnosis and confirmed bed capability
Tell the patient and pilot the diagnosed tier, what improved, what remains and the next suitable destination. Check the available bed’s actual tier and supply before setting off.
Expected result: Everyone can name why this destination can treat the patient.
If it did not work: If the tier or bed capability cannot be confirmed, plan for a hospital or other verified higher-level care instead of declaring the patient cured.
Read the incapacitation screen before pressing a key. Rescue and death/regeneration are separate choices.
Incapacitated QWERTY default; CIG identifies comma on AZERTY
Hold the rescue input and inspect the resulting beacon state. Tell the responder your location, access route and what injured you.
Expected result: The game confirms a request, not merely a key hint.
If it did not work: Read the actual reward before accepting its cost; CIG’s documented default is 15,000 aUEC. Check layout if M does nothing. A request cannot guarantee a responder.
SC Nomads rescue handoff
Report nearby threats, uncertain directions and any death or session departure. Keep the responder informed while they approach.
Expected result: The rescuer knows whether the patient still needs this handoff.
If it did not work: Do not declare the scene safe merely because you cannot currently see an enemy.
The incapacitation HUD offers a separate death/regeneration input. This ends the current rescue opportunity.
Only the incapacitation prompt documented by CIG’s reference HUD
Read the destination and rescue option first. If regeneration is your choice, hold the displayed death/regeneration input and wait for the transition.
Expected result: You reach the resulting medical location.
If it did not work: CIG’s example destination and countdown are not universal defaults. This instruction does not establish a ship self-destruct shortcut or every seated/on-foot context.
Check the actual bed capability. Minor injuries fit T3 care; moderate injuries need T2 or better; severe injuries need T1 or a hospital.
Contextual medical-bed interaction
Move the incapacitated patient beside the bed and select Place In Bed when offered. Read the treatment result and remaining diagnosis.
Expected result: The patient is receiving care and you can identify any remaining injury.
If it did not work: Check access, capability and supply if care cannot finish. Use a suitable facility rather than repeating the same unsupported treatment.
CIG documents 200 cSCU per MedGel canister, 100 cSCU per regeneration, and bed capacities of T3 200, T2 400 and T1 600 cSCU. Each bed on a multi-bed ship stores and spends its own supply. The 4.3.1 LIVE notes charge once for the highest injury tier during a treatment, rather than summing every injury. Confirm current values on the in-game interface before promising a rescue or respawn.
Medical-facility purchase interface
CIG introduced MedGel canisters for sale at medical facilities. Read current stock, price, container size and purchase destination before paying. Move a spare canister where the crew can reach the bed refill port.
Expected result: The planned bed has access to a compatible spare and the current cost is known.
If it did not work: The 4.3.1 launch price is historical, not a reliable current quote. A purchased canister at a different location will not refill this bed by itself.
Bed refill port and medical interface
Load the intended canister through the available port, then read this bed’s supply before and after. Compare it with the displayed treatment or regeneration requirement.
Expected result: This particular bed has enough supply for the operation you are planning.
If it did not work: An assignment does not create MedGel. Check the port, canister, target bed and current display if its supply did not increase. Another bed on the ship may have a different balance.
The ship has two beds but only one shows MedGel.: The 4.3.1 LIVE notes say MedGel is stored and spent per bed. Inspect and refill the specific bed that will treat or regenerate the player.
A calculation predicts two respawns but one fails.: Treatment also consumes supply, and the bed must remain functional and in range. Read the current bed balance and operation cost instead of relying on capacity alone.
At a hangar attached to a medical facility, follow Emergency Dropoff to care. After treatment, verify the accepted rescue outcome and restock.
At a hangar attached to a medical facility, look for Emergency Dropoff and its elevator. Follow the facility route to treatment instead of sending an injured player through an unfamiliar city.
Expected result: The patient reaches the care location associated with the rescue handoff.
If it did not work: If the facility has no such entrance, use the available safe route or another suitable facility. The image is an example, not proof every hangar has one.
Confirm the patient reached care and inspect the accepted rescue outcome. Restock consumed supplies and tell your crew when the ship is ready again.
Expected result: You have checked the person and the mission, rather than assuming landing ended both.
If it did not work: If the rescue remains active, read its remaining objective. Do not leave solely because the patient crossed the hangar threshold.
Treatment and regeneration assignment are separate. CIG lists T3 bed range at 50 km, T2 at 8,000 km and T1 at 750,000,000 km. These are ranges from the selected bed, not a promise that every ship bed works everywhere in a system.
Medical-bed regeneration assignment interface
Open the appropriate bed interface and use its regeneration assignment action. Read the confirmed location before leaving.
Expected result: The intended bed or location is recorded.
If it did not work: Destroyed beds, insufficient MedGel or being outside the bed’s effective range can send you home instead. Lying down alone does not prove a new assignment.
I selected a nearby T3 bed, then travelled away and woke at home.: Check the distance from that bed, its remaining MedGel and whether it still exists. T3 range is 50 km; the assignment alone cannot override range or a destroyed/empty bed.
Current CIG inventory guidance distinguishes equipped gear from other carried contents left at the corpse. Check individual slots and containers, rather than assuming a whole backpack or armor loadout has one outcome.
Personal Inventory, official support default
Inspect the character slots, then open each carried container. Compare actual items with the kit you had before the incident.
Expected result: You can identify what is present and what is missing.
If it did not work: A backpack being worn does not prove its contents returned. Record the item, slot, death location and build; do not promise identical retention for every magazine, attachment or utility slot.
Item-state record
For a missing item, record whether it was equipped, inside carried storage, at a location or aboard a ship. Check that storage before buying a replacement.
Expected result: Your recovery plan refers to an exact item and state.
If it did not work: Older broad statements that all belongings stay at the corpse do not match the newer equipped-versus-carried guidance. Pledge ownership also does not make every in-game item claimable.
My backpack or armor is equipped, but something inside it is missing.: Inspect the equipped slot and its contents separately. CIG says unequipped carried contents remain with the corpse; a worn container does not prove its stored items returned.
Can I use Claim Mode to replace a lost FPS medical tool?: The July 2026 CIG recovery article limits current Claim Mode to ship-related pledge items and excludes in-game purchases and loot. Check the corpse and safe storage first; do not assume an FPS item is claimable.
Note the facility name and inspect your condition before choosing the next trip.
Storage Access: location and container selector
Use a Storage Access kiosk, read the location heading and inspect its inventory. Equip the essentials and verify they are carried before leaving.
Expected result: You know where the remaining supplies are and what is with you.
If it did not work: An empty container at a different location does not prove your stored belongings vanished. Check location and filters first.
SC Nomads recovery checklist
Choose whether to rejoin the crew, return to stored supplies or arrange item recovery. Check suit, helmet, tools and transport for that choice.
Expected result: You can name your destination and any missing requirement.
If it did not work: Get suitable treatment if an injury remains. Do not follow a made-up universal hospital corridor; use the actual facility signs.
MedGel and functioning equipment matter. Do not promise that owning a ship with a bed guarantees unlimited regeneration or complete treatment.
For the stranded player: use the rescue-beacon binding shown in your own controls. Keyboard layouts can differ from the on-screen default hint.
I am incapacitated and cannot reach my tool.: Use the medical-beacon prompt. The RSI default is hold M on QWERTY, but follow your own layout. Tell responders about enemies and your position. Regenerating ends this rescue opportunity.
The health bar improved, but the injury remains.: Field medication can suppress symptoms. Check the diagnosed injury and use the required medical bed tier or a hospital.
