MISSIONS / VISUAL FIELD GUIDE

Choose contracts and build a repeatable session

Open Contracts, choose a suitable job, prepare, accept and track it, share deliberately, verify completion and compare payment with standing.

Getting startedSolo or a party22 min read
Match the objective rather than the reward

STEP 1 OF 14

Open the job board before committing to work

Start somewhere you can stop moving safely. This walkthrough takes one contract from browsing to an observed result. SC Nomads first-session exercise: choose a job whose first objective you can explain in one sentence; leave additional offers unaccepted until that first loop works.

  1. 1

    Open mobiGlas and find Contracts

    Separate controls: F1

    mobiGlas (Toggle) > CONTRACTS

Press F1, then select the app labelled CONTRACTS. Choose Verified or Unverified at the top, open a mission category and select an offer to read its detail panel. CIG’s documented layout puts the app at the fourth button from the left; use the name if your layout differs.

    What you should see

You see an offer with an issuer, task and reward, plus any displayed deadline. Browsing has not accepted it.

    That did not happen

If F1 opens nothing, check the named mobiGlas toggle in your saved bindings. If the device itself is missing or nonfunctional, use the dedicated mobiGlas troubleshooting source before accepting a timed job.

What do these words mean?
Offer
A proposed job you can inspect before accepting. A category count indicates available or new offers, not completed work.
Issuer
The person or organization offering this job. Read this name again when comparing its payment and reputation result.
Accepted
The contract list containing jobs you have taken. A job in this list still needs its objectives completed.
Nomad’s field note

Different input? Open Options > Keybindings, choose your device, then Advanced Controls Customization. Read the named action before changing it. Submit corrections through this guide’s normal edit proposal.

Read issuer, task and risk together

Open Contracts and inspect the complete offer before accepting. Location, timer, target type and issuer matter alongside the reward.

Our planning method: select a task you already have equipment for, check the travel and handoff, then decide whether it fits the time you have.

Read the issuer, legality and commitment

Separate controls: F1

Open Contracts and inspect the issuer, Verified or Unverified category, task, reward and deadline. Select an offer that matches your equipment and available time.

Expected result: You know whose work you are doing and what completion requires.

If it did not work: Unverified does not simply mean harder. Read the legal implications before treating it as the next reputation step.

Choose a suitable category, employer and commitment

CIG uses Verified for eligible, in-range offers generally issued by official sources; Unverified contains unofficial employers that may be questionable. These are not easy and hard difficulty tabs. The Alpha 4.8 release notes, for example, put the large-squad Tactical Strike Group job under Verified Mercenary contracts.

Match the verb to your intended session: Delivery/Hauling moves goods; Collection supplies named items; Investigation gathers specified information; Mercenary and Bounty Hunting involve targets. A bounty can target another player. A Service Beacon originates from another player’s request, so establish the actual situation with that player before approaching.

Crossing from Stanton into Pyro or Nyx is not a reason to treat every destination alike. Check who controls the actual location after arrival. CIG’s Alpha 4.0 Pyro introduction described gang-controlled stations with local rules, distinct from their contested depths. That is dated context, not a current safe-station map. A system name, a clean CrimeStat and a friendly employer are three different pieces of information.

Turn the offer into a departure plan

Separate controls: F1

Contracts > selected offer details

SC Nomads practice: read the issuer, objective, destination, quantity or target, deadline, any entry fee and stated prerequisites. Say: “I will take this item or perform this action, at this place, and confirm this result.” Compare that plan with your ship, equipment, crew and remaining playtime.

Expected result: You can identify the first task and the final handoff. You know whether you are accepting travel, cargo handling, combat or a combination.

If it did not work: If the wording still leaves the target or handoff unclear, browse another offer before committing. A higher advertised reward does not establish that your transport, eligibility or available time is sufficient.

Check the job against local law

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > location > Journals > system legal code

Check your current location and its legal code in Journals. After crossing a system boundary or arriving at another faction’s territory, repeat that check before beginning the job. Compare its target, access and goods with the destination’s rules, not only the law at departure. Leave an unclear Unverified offer unaccepted while you investigate.

Expected result: You can name the location and controlling faction you checked, separately from the employer offering payment.

If it did not work: Verified is not a promise that every action near its destination is permitted. Stop before firing on a different ship, entering an unrelated restricted facility or taking cargo that the contract did not authorize.

Find the hauling introduction when it is available

Separate controls: F1

Contracts > available Delivery/Hauling offers

CIG’s Cargo Guide names Opportunity for Independent Cargo Hauler from Covalex Independent Contractors as the hauling introduction. If that offer is available, select it and read the actual goods, quantities, pickup and delivery requirements before deciding to accept.

Expected result: You have a specific starting offer to assess with the kit and acceptance checks below.

If it did not work: If it is absent, check the offers available to your character and location. Do not buy trade cargo to substitute for assigned freight or assume a more demanding offer is the same introduction.

Controlling faction / employer
The group governing a location and the issuer hiring you need not be the same. CIG’s dated Alpha 4.0 Pyro introduction describes local station rules; use the current location and displayed legal code for your next action.
Eligibility
The conditions for a particular offer, such as access, location or mission progression. Another player seeing a job does not establish that it should appear for your character.
PvE / PvP
A computer-controlled opponent / another player. Read a bounty’s target and terms before planning it as an NPC practice fight.

Prepare the equipment the objective actually needs

SC Nomads preparation rule: finish the capability check before accepting a deadline. For one carried parcel, check an accessible place to put it and a way back through the ship. For freight, read total SCU, individual container sizes and every pickup/drop-off; nominal cargo capacity alone does not prove that a particular box fits through your access route.

For a combat job, inspect the weapons you intend to use, ammunition, medical supplies and protective equipment. For a noncombat job, keep a recovery budget and an exit plan without turning a simple first delivery into an expensive equipment purchase. Local storage does not accompany your character to another port.

Inspect the kit away from local storage

Separate controls: I

Away from the Storage Access kiosk, open personal inventory and inspect the suit, helmet, tool and supplies needed by this job. Check carried containers, not only a purchase receipt. Keep an affordable spare kit at your recovery location.

Expected result: The items required for departure are with you or deliberately aboard the chosen transport.

If it did not work: If an item is absent, check the original location storage and purchase destination before buying it again. An item saved at a different port is not automatically available here.

Equip compatible magazines, not just a gun

Separate controls: I

Inspect your weapon name and its required magazine. Equip matching magazines on your carried kit. At a location where drawing is allowed, select the weapon and check its ammunition display.

Expected result: The weapon has ammunition and a matching reload is accessible.

If it did not work: Armistice restrictions can prevent drawing. A magazine for a similar-looking gun may still be incompatible.

Use Landing Services from the pilot seat

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Landing Services

After landing at a location offering services, remain in the pilot seat. Choose the required repair, restock and fuel options, then Confirm. Recheck ammunition and system state after completion.

Expected result: The requested supplies or condition have changed.

If it did not work: If the app or result is wrong, note the location and state before buying repeatedly. An icon change alone is not proof of a successful refill.

Check whether this is a hauling job you can carry

SC Nomads cargo fit check

For a hauling offer, read the type, quantity and destinations. Confirm ship access and a working tractor tool/attachment for manual loading. Choose a small run with a return route you can explain before accepting more stops.

Expected result: You have a loading method and enough usable space for the actual job.

If it did not work: If the first box cannot be moved or fitted, solve that equipment or access problem before taking another contract. Commodity trading at a shop is a different transaction from collecting someone else’s assigned freight.

  • Suit and helmet appropriate for the route
  • Objective tool actually carried
  • Compatible ammunition if combat is intended
  • Fuel, services and recovery budget
  • Cargo access and all handoffs understood

Accept one job, then verify the active objective

An offer, an accepted job and a tracked objective are three different states. Confirm each one before leaving. SC Nomads marker check: compare the contract title and objective text with the marker you intend to follow; a nearby icon is not proof that you selected the correct job.

Accept the selected offer once

Separate controls: F1

Contracts > offer > ACCEPT OFFER > ACCEPTED

After the fit check, select ACCEPT OFFER for this job. Open ACCEPTED and select the same contract by name. Read the first objective and any timer that now appears.

Expected result: The chosen job is in ACCEPTED and its first required action is visible.

If it did not work: If the job is absent, recheck whether acceptance actually succeeded or the offer became unavailable. Do not launch toward a destination remembered from an unaccepted offer.

Check tracking and match the marker

Separate controls: F1

Contracts > ACCEPTED > chosen job > displayed tracking control

SC Nomads marker check: inspect the selected accepted job for its tracking action or state. If a tracking toggle is offered, enable it for the job you intend to do. Close mobiGlas and compare the displayed objective and destination marker with the task you just read.

Expected result: You can name the current objective and recognize its corresponding destination or target information.

If it did not work: If no marker is present, reopen the same accepted contract and check its current stage and tracking state. Some objectives require investigation rather than an exact target icon. Use the text to establish the next action instead of jumping toward an unrelated marker; record a missing control or marker if the task provides no usable direction.

Tracking
Choosing which accepted job’s objective information to follow. It does not complete the job or guarantee that every item has a precise marker.
Objective / stage
The action the contract currently requires. It can change after a pickup, interaction or delivery, so re-read it at each handoff.

Form the party and agree who does the handoffs

For a solo run, continue to the objective after verifying Accepted. With friends, form the party before sharing. Agree a physical meeting point and who flies, handles the objective item, watches the surroundings and reads contract progress. Being in the same party does not put everyone at the same terminal.

Invite the contact in game

Separate controls: F11

Commlink, official support default

Open Commlink, select the accepted contact and send a party invitation. Ask them to accept, then read the party roster.

Expected result: Both players can identify the party members.

If it did not work: Recheck contact and invitation states before repeatedly leaving the session.

Agree one objective owner and a stop call

SC Nomads crew handoff

Name the person handling the item or terminal and the person checking the mission state. Agree that either can call stop if the object name, destination or objective count differs. Use Share in the next section and have each intended participant accept.

Expected result: Everyone knows which contract and action they are supporting, before a stage is completed.

If it did not work: If a player joins late or declines the share, pause and establish their actual contract state. Do not promise retrospective credit or an identical item reward from party membership alone.

Share before starting

The official mission guide shares from the Accepted tab while in a party. Other members must accept the shared offer for it to appear in their own manager.

Have each player read back the objective. Party membership alone does not prove everyone has the contract or meets its eligibility.

Share the actual accepted mission

Separate controls: F1

Form your party, open Accepted contracts, select the job and choose Share where available. Ask each member to accept the offered mission.

Expected result: Each intended participant can see the accepted job in their own contract list.

If it did not work: Being in the party alone is not proof a mission was shared or accepted. Check before completing its objective.

Reach the first objective and confirm one state change

SC Nomads first-loop routine: after sharing, each participant reads the job name and current objective from their own Accepted list. The pilot reads the destination, the handler reads the item or target, and both agree before moving. Navigate to that destination with a route and landing plan appropriate to your ship.

At the scene, identify the object the job names before using it. A box of the same shape, a nearby body or a terminal in the same building can belong to something else. For a combat objective, identify the required target and friendlies first. Complete the required stage before treating nearby loot as a separate activity.

Read back the shared objective before arrival

Separate controls: F1

Contracts > ACCEPTED > exact shared job

After accepting the shared offer, each crew member opens the job and reads the current objective. Confirm the intended participant sees it in their own list. Before a pickup or hand-in, repeat the exact item and destination to the handler.

Expected result: The people expecting shared credit have accepted the same job and can identify the next required action.

If it did not work: If one player has no job or a different stage, check the share invitation and accepted title before completing the next interaction. Do not use a visible party marker as the only proof.

Use the named item or terminal

Separate controls: Hold F

On foot > Interaction Mode > displayed objective action

Look at the required object and use its visible interaction. Hold F for additional options where available, then select the action the objective needs, such as carrying the named item or operating its terminal. Reopen the contract after the interaction and check what changed.

Expected result: The intended object is handled and the current objective advances or identifies the next requirement.

If it did not work: If it does not advance, compare the object name, required action and location with the accepted text. Confirm the action completed before moving the object again. Avoid using an old universal stow shortcut on a parcel that may not fit in carried storage.

Finish the handoff before declaring the job complete

CIG’s hauling procedure may include several pickup or delivery locations. Work through the assigned goods and their corresponding destinations; the first successful drop is not necessarily the final stage. SC Nomads practice: keep a short item-to-destination list and cross off a line only when the contract registers it.

Complete the specific destination hand-in

Separate controls: Hold F

Destination interaction > required delivery or terminal action

At the named drop-off, perform the requested delivery interaction and inspect its acknowledgement. For freight, deliver to the location and method specified by this contract. Check the remaining objective count before removing more cargo or leaving.

Expected result: The required delivery is credited, or the contract clearly identifies the outstanding item or stage.

If it did not work: A box being on a platform or an elevator finishing its animation does not prove credit. Recheck item identity, destination and the final interaction. Keep the current state intact if submission fails instead of adding unrelated items to test it.

Read the result while it is still available

Separate controls: F1

Contracts > this job’s result and remaining objectives

After the final interaction, inspect the job for its completed or failed outcome and any outstanding stage. With a party, have the other participants inspect their result too. Note the displayed reward before leaving the area.

Expected result: You can distinguish completed work from an active job, partial delivery or failed attempt.

If it did not work: If the result is still active, read the next objective instead of assuming a payout is merely delayed. If the contract shows completion but the money is unclear, continue to the payout comparison below rather than submitting a second set of items.

Record results that help your next session

Note issuer, contract name, region, completion time, costs and any failure point. Distinguish active time from waiting at lifts, transit or service terminals.

CIG currently lists mission-history clearing on client exit as a display issue while completed credit remains. A missing history row is not by itself proof that your completed work was erased.

Check reputation and payout separately

Separate controls: F1

After completion, read the mission result, reward and the relevant reputation view. Record the issuer and any newly available offers.

Expected result: You distinguish a paid mission from a specific reputation unlock.

If it did not work: Do not promise another player your own unlocked offer. Their location, eligibility and progression may differ.

  • Objective understood
  • Party accepted
  • Completion checked
  • Useful result recorded

Compare the advertised reward, received money and standing

For standard shared work, CIG describes an equal share of mission rewards among party participants. Treat the offer as the job’s advertised reward rather than assuming each helper receives the full headline amount. Read mission-specific terms for physical items, event awards or other currencies; a shared job is not proof of identical reputation changes or unlocks.

SC Nomads result note: record your balance before work and again after the result. Separate visible mission payment from fuel, ammunition, repairs, entry fees and other purchases. A simple balance difference includes all those transactions; it is not automatically the contract’s gross reward.

Check your own received result

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > displayed balance and contract result

Compare the advertised reward and participant count with the result and your own balance. Record service costs separately. If a physical reward was promised, inspect the specified receiving inventory or location rather than assuming a money increase represents the item.

Expected result: Your note distinguishes the advertised amount, observed receipt and costs of completing the run.

If it did not work: If the amounts do not reconcile, keep the offer/result, participant count and transaction timing. Avoid spending or transferring more money while trying to determine what the original payment was.

Inspect the issuing organization in Reputation

Separate controls: F1

mobiGlas > Reputation app > relevant issuing organization

Open the Reputation app and inspect the organization or track relevant to this job. Compare the displayed standing and newly offered jobs with your previous note. If the next contract states an introduction, certification or reputation requirement, read that requirement before attempting it.

Expected result: You can report the standing actually shown and which specific next offer is available to you.

If it did not work: Payment alone is not proof of a particular rank increase. If an offer is absent, check its issuer, location and prerequisite before repeatedly completing an unrelated job. Do not promise another character your own eligibility.

Advertised reward
What the selected offer says the contract awards, subject to its stated terms and result. It is distinct from one party member’s observed take-home amount.
Net session result
SC Nomads bookkeeping: observed income less the costs you chose to pay during that run. This is not an in-game reputation score.
Reputation / standing
Progress or relationship shown for an organization or activity. It is separate from cash and CrimeStat; the relevant track and requirements depend on the job.
Scrip
An organization-linked reward currency named for some mission types in the Alpha 4.8 notes. It should not be recorded as though it were an aUEC balance increase.

Recover a stalled job without repeating the same loss

SC Nomads diagnosis: distinguish an unaccepted offer, an untracked job, a missed objective interaction, a failed contract and a client/server failure. Each leaves different evidence. Before abandoning a job, read its current state and any consequence shown, tell the crew and record the last stage that definitely worked.

Make one bounded check of the stuck stage

SC Nomads mission fault check

Compare the accepted objective, required location, item or target and final interaction once. Note the build, contract title, issuer and exact stage. Check the current known-issues list for that symptom before accepting the same job again.

Expected result: You can explain whether a specific requirement is missing or a documented issue prevents completion.

If it did not work: The 4.10.2 advisory lists missing targets for Evict Illegal Occupants and Repel Raid on Orison; it gives no workaround and advises against accepting Repel Raid while affected because failure or abandonment damages Crusader Security reputation. Leave an unauthorized facility promptly; missing trespass warnings are also documented.

Choose whether to continue, abandon or change activity

Accepted job > displayed failure/abandonment choices

If the job cannot be completed within your resources and time, read the offered abandonment or failure information and make that decision deliberately. Record the outcome and tell everyone working on the job. After a connection failure, use the session-recovery lesson and inspect the actual returned state before replacing cargo or equipment.

Expected result: The crew knows whether this attempt is active, ended or awaiting recovery, and why.

If it did not work: Do not assume abandonment is penalty-free or that a relog restores an unfinished contract. If a completed job disappears from history after client exit, the 4.10.2 advisory identifies a history display issue while completed mission credit remains.

The contract says completed but its history row is gone after restart.: Keep the observed result and payment note. The current advisory treats history clearing on client exit as a display issue, not removal of completed mission credit.

The party arrived but someone cannot see the shared job.: Check the actual Share invitation and that player’s Accepted list. Party membership, a shared location and accepted mission participation are separate checks.

Choose the next lesson from the stage you need to practise

SC Nomads next-run exercise: repeat the smallest successful loop once with the same familiar equipment, then change one thing such as an additional stop or another crew role. Do not combine a new ship, new combat tier and unfamiliar destination merely because the next offer pays more.

For one carried package, investigation object or recovery handoff, open Learn and search for “Delivery, investigation and recovery jobs”.

For a freight manifest, tractor handling and destination unloading, open Learn and search for “Your first hauling contract”.

For target identification and a ship-combat practice routine, open Learn and search for “Begin ship bounty hunting”.

For a replaceable FPS kit, friendlies and facility access, open Learn and search for “Ground combat and bunker contracts”.

For party setup, deliberate logout or a connection failure, open Learn and search for “Join friends and end a session”.

For a recorded legal offense or imprisonment, open Learn and search for “CrimeStat and getting out of prison”.

Pick one specific next practice target

SC Nomads learning handoff

Name the stage that caused uncertainty: selecting an offer, loading, target identification, hand-in or recovery. Open the matching lesson above and rehearse that stage before committing to a larger contract. Carry your issuer, costs and failure note into the next session.

Expected result: You have a practical lesson and one change to evaluate on the next run.

If it did not work: If the objective itself remains unclear, ask for an explanation of that exact stage or choose a simpler available offer. Buying a larger ship does not fix an unrecognized handoff or missing prerequisite.

Before you commit

Do not repeatedly abandon a broken mission assuming there is no reputation effect. Consult the current known issues before taking the same failing job again.

This is a planning method, not a reputation payout table. Eligibility and rewards can change with issuer, progress and patch.
